Certification and National Examinations for the EKG Technician
With a professional responsibility for administering electrocardiogram tests – which record and monitor the electrical transmission of impulses by the heart – the EKG Technician assists the physician in diagnosis and treatment of cardiac and blood vessel irregularities. EKG Technicians not only work in physician offices, hospitals, clinics and other health care facilities, they also work for insurance companies to establish health and life insurance policies.
Anyone interested in becoming a certified EKG Technician should possess a high school diploma or GED equivalent before applying for an additional professional course of study.
